This highly advanced course explains in-depth what the challenges are to pulling the “God shot” and how we can manipulate the ingredients, equipment, and environment to our advantage. Learn what each aspect of the espresso preparation method controls: grind size, coffee dose (amount), coffee distribution, tamp pressure, brew temperature, brew pressure, shot time, and more. Ample hands-on practice time ensures that you gain a complete and insightful understanding of the espresso extraction process so that you are more than comfortable in chasing a specific extraction profile to get the best taste from your coffee. This course is essential for all professional baristas and espresso enthusiasts.


This course focuses on demonstration and hands-on time at the espresso machine. Class sizes are limited to provide ample practice time for each student.

  • Explore the range of espresso: single origin espressos vs. blends, roast levels, freshness
